I have a question about having Georgia Hope Scholarship and a Pell Grant?

I was wondering if the HOPE Scholarship covers my expenses(tuition) for school. Where will the Pell Grant go? Will it just disappear or does it roll over. Just a little confused.

Thanks.

Aid that exceeds the cost of tuition/fees will come back to you. This will either be a check that they mail, or a deposit into your HigherOne account (depending on where you go to school…not all the GA universities have HigherOne).

Check your personal page–the same one you use to check your application status and such. You can view your financial aid there, and once you’ve registered, you can see how much you owe in fees. If all has been paid, tuition, fees, housing, and whatnot, and there’s money left over, you’ll likely see something along the lines of “All fees have been paid and you have $ XXXX available for other expenses.”
The school will send you an e-mail when this money has been deposited or mailed to you. Then it’s yours to spend on books, food, or whatever.

Good luck. Careful with HOPE! It’s not that hard to keep, but it’s not that hard to lose either! Oh how I miss the days of having too much financial aid…(:-P)

I went to community college in Florida. After I graduated I moved to Georgia. I want to go back to school and get my Bachelor’s degree. Am I eligible for the HOPE scholarship?

I have lived in GA for 2 years and my college GPA was 3.0.
I went to high school in Florida.

Where did you go to high school?
To receive HOPE Scholarship funding, students must:
Meet one of the following academic requirements:
Graduate from a HOPE-eligible high school with a 3.0 grade point average for college preparatory diploma or a 3.2 grade point average for other diploma types. For more details, click here.
Complete a HOPE eligible home study program with a 3.0 grade point average. For more details, click here.
For all Georgia high school graduates who begin their high school careers during or after the 2008-2009 school year must graduate with a 3.0 grade point average. For more details, click here.
Graduate from an ineligible high school, complete an ineligible home study program, or earn a GED, and score in the national composite 85th percentile or higher on the SAT or ACT tests. For more details, click here.
Graduate from an ineligible high school or complete an ineligible home study program, and then earn a 3.0 grade point average on 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of college degree-level coursework. This option allows for payment of the first 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours after they are taken. For more details, click here.
Earn a 3.0 grade point average at the college level on degree coursework after attempting 30, 60, or 90 semesters hours or 45, 90, or 135 quarter hours, regardless of high school graduation status. For more details, click here.

I guess the answer is no since you went to high school in Florida.

Hope scholarships are ONLY good if used in the state of Georgia at an accredited college in GEORGIA. If you’re in FL, it will not work and it does not matter where you went to high school.
